1.2 Statement of the problem According to National Service Delivery Survey (2008), the Government has the obligation to provide services to its citizens and to steer economic growth and development through the provision of public services. However this has not been the case in Mbale district as evidenced by inability of district officials to avail clean water to the Mbale residents, failure to maintain the feeder roads among others. This has been partly attributed to failure of the district to execute effective supplier sourcing evidenced by the fact that almost all the contracts in the district are being awarded to contractors within the district of whom some do not have the required experience to carry out various stipulated assignments or activities within the district (District Audit Report, 2011);. It’s against the above background that the researcher will evaluate, establish and analyze the relationship between supplier sourcing and performance of Mbale District Local Government 1.3 Purpose of the study The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of supplier sourcing on performance of Mbale District Local Government 1.4 Objectives of the study i) To find out different methods of supplier sourcing practiced in Mbale District Local Government ii) To find out other factors that affect performance of Mbale District Local Government iii) To establish the relationship between supplier sourcing and performance of Mbale District Local Government sector Study questions What were the different methods of supplier sourcing in Mbale District Local Government What other factors affect performance of Mbale District Local Government?
